Photography is the most modern of the arts, a marriage of science and art separate from the other plastic arts and cinema.  Its  unique  characteristics warrant  a representation of reality that is believable. Veracity at the expense of manipulation may seem limiting, but portraying  the external world through honest  observation remains photography's greatest  strength.
