I have undertaken a project for artists, especially painters and watercolorists, but also for designers and architects. The goal is to document through fine art photographs the enormous color variation that lies at our feet in the deserts of the American Southwest.  This is to be a compilation of the subtle colors of vegetation and surface  rock deposits,. The harmonious colors of sage, creosote, cactus, brush, rock, and sandstone provide reference  for artists that paint , draw, design, etc. Most pass by the desert landscape without really seeing the beauty that lies within. A closer look is warranted, even demands that to learn its secrets.  That is for me to discover. These few photographs are the start of this project, one that will be ongoing and hopefully conclude with a good reference book  for artists of all disciplines.
