SIERRA FOOTHILLS

The Sierra foothills features some of the most beautiful  land  in California..Often overlooked  by Californians as a gateway to the high Sierra, the foothills rise up to 4,000 feet before further elevation begins to introduce Pines and Fir...The rolling grass covered hills are dotted throughout with beautiful oaks,  pasturelands. Living close by in Sonora, I was always on the lookout for great light conditions. ..

.This particular series caught me by surprise...I was drivening past Wilms Road on the way home and noticed a fantastic group of low hanging clouds stretched out over the Wilms Road ranchlands...I immediately turned to take a look...Rewarding me were blue skies and low hanging clouds, conditions that couldnt have been scripted better.  Again,  I only had my I-phone with  me, but it proved adequate to record  this special day. Within an hour I was done, satisfied I'd captured the  feeling I was might be riding in the clouds themselves..Luck plays a big part in my photography, being in the right place at the right time...But I'm also in the position to be able to drop anything at a monents  notice to chase spontaneous opportunities. The little series is one of my favorites. An  hours time and 16 photographs. That's  what  I call a good day of photography..
